Why Are Organic Foods Sold More Expensive Than Foods Produced Using the Ordinary System?
Undoubtedly, the biggest disadvantage of organic foods for consumers is this price difference. The reason for this is that, unfortunately, organic food and agriculture has not yet received the necessary and sufficient support from both consumers and the public.
The fact that it cannot be bought by the consumers is due to its inability to create a high demand in the market. We can mention two important reasons for this. The first is that it is unconscious, and the second is that the price difference has a negative effect on purchasing power. Due to the lack of demand, Organic Food producers do this job in small-scale fields and therefore they cannot compete with the producers who make mass production in large lands in terms of cost.
However, it is a pleasing development in the world today. The speed of learning and awareness of the damage caused by pesticides and chemicals, additives used during processing, on human health is increasing day by day.
As for the issue of not getting the necessary support from the public side. Unfortunately, the states do not reflect the cost of ancillary services, which have made many and large financial contributions to the existing agriculture, to the farmers engaged in this type of production.
